The next day, April 13, was another perfectly clear day as the R.M.S. Titanic was still less than half-way into its maiden voyage. Captain Smith had set out to make his daily inspections of the ship. In the Engine room, Chief Engineer informed Smith that the fire in boiler room 6 had finally been extinguished. Though the danger was over, the bulkhead that formed part of the coal bunker had been warped by the fire. For now, a stoker was rubbing oil on the ugly scar that the ship would carry until it returned from its voyage.
